Luis Alberto Sánchez, politician and intellectual. Experiences, Joys and Doubts of an Exile

This article analyzes and understands the human, political, and intellectual dimensions of the Peruvian APRA exile through the experiences of intellectual and politician Luis Alberto Sánchez. First, we believe that exile is more of a human than a political experience, that marks profoundly the human relationships. Second, the experience of exile can be profoundly traumatic, leading to the restructuring of life plans. Both elements of the APRA exile in Chile can be summarized in Sánchez's experience. As primary sources, we will use Sánchez's memoirs, press archives, and the correspondence of the Peruvian thinker. As a result of his experience, he eventually abandoned staunch militancy to progressively focus more on his academic career.
